I had Mojave and Monterey running fine on NVME separate containers until I had a power interruption while booted from Monterey. It still booted but Quicktime would not launch and Disk Utility failed to verify/repair with fs tree corruption. Being OCD and not having a whole lot in Monterey I decided to delete the Monty container from USB recovery and rebuild. Disk Util, however, froze during resize of Mojave and now my NVME is no longer detected!?! Either in GParted (linux) or Windows Disk Mgr? Nada, gone, buhbye! It did show a Samsung NVME controller in lspci (linux) so I guess that’s good news!?! It seems like parsing/initialization is timing out as per verbose when booting Linux?

A: is there a way to lengthen this parsing timeout?

B: I’m using RefindPlus/openCore chainload so I have some options. I already set scan delay to 5 minutes in RefindPlus in the hopes the drive would somehow become detectable. No dice. May try 10 minutes next.

C: Is my drive toast?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

(BTW, I have a USB enclosure on order to try that.)

EDIT: SAMSUNG warrantied the drive. it was fried!

Seems you somewhat reduced the random question marks ;)
Good thing as it meant I was able to hang in there long enough get to this:
I’m using RefindPlus/OpenCore
Well, there is a potential impact RefindPlus v0.13.2.AN might have although if it was the case, it should have shown up before the incident. On Macs, it basically does not rescan for newly revealed DXE drivers. This means that disks with non-native filesystems (skipped a chunk of your post, so not sure if this is the case here) might not show up on Macs.

As said, this should have manifested before your incident if this was a factor but regardless, you might want to eliminate this by building the current code base on GitHub or waiting for the next release.

Have you tried checking it (in Windows) with Samsung's own software?

Yes, didn’t show up. When booting Linux the drive initialization times out. I added more timeout with a kernel module parameter and it seems as though more blocks are detected each time. I’m hoping it will eventually show up. Only a few 100,000 blocks to go! :|

I have augmented my bootrom with APFS jumpstart and NVME.ffs so unlikely the issue. I was deleting Monterey Partition and resizing Mojave partition from Monterey Recovery USB when it froze for some time. Unresponsive mouse, kbd, etc...

Perhaps the fact that Monterey uses newer APFS had something to do with it? ( only used one question mark! ) :0

Well I sent the drive back to Samsung and they warrantied it! Sent me a new one. Guess it was fried.
