Just got a “Welcome To MacBook Air” notification. My first thought was a glitch about that welcome splash screen that you get after starting your Mac for the first time or something related. After pressing on notification Safari opened a new webpage informing me about the new M1 Mac.

Wtf? Anybody else had this? This is something that Android /Windows OEM-s would do,not Apple... I guess times are changing.

Instead of realizing it was obviously wrong etc., you jump to conclusions and assume Apple is acting like Google with ads. Good grief.
I did realize that is was "wrong" and that is why I asked here. Why wouldn't I assume that? We live in times where there is a financial benefit for company if bug happens? Many big companies do questionable things and Apple is among them. They were slowing users old iPhones and admitted it and apologized. They had to pay fine because they lost lawsuit as well. Louis Rossmann have caught Apple lying to its users to make them buy new devices while old ones could be easily and cheaply fixed. Apple does much worse than what I wrongly assumed here.

I just to use Shazam which is Apple's app and they pushed an update which opens big Apple Music ad when i press on many placess in app UI. I need to wait for few sec to dismiss it and I don't even have Apple Music in my country. That is much worse then this little Welcome notification...

You are right in saying that I should not jump to conclusions but I don't understand why you are surprised that I did. Appel is better that most but it is no saint or stranger to bad practices.

Are you on a new MacBook Air? If not, some people are reporting their Macs think they are MacBook airs, maybe this is related to that.
Yea, I'm on older MacBook Air and it seems that this was an issue that happened to me.
