Greetings all,
Trying to solve this problem for my university and I am stumped. Bit of background first.
I'm working with all MacMini 3,1 which have 10.5.8 installed on them (we cannot upgrade due to some software glitch). 2 of these boxes came in with the startup folder with a question mark blinking.
I tried some combinations, like resetting the PRAM, all the way to putting in a new HDD. Now I get kernel panics. I tried swapping RAM to/from the original, that didn't make a difference. I ran AHT and it came out fine.
The first line of the panic says:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x0043913F): "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\".\n@SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1228.15.4/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1407
I also tried holding down the shift key to get into single user mode and run fsck, it won't even let me (on both machines). I do have the DVD and I can't even reinstall it from holding down C.
I'm willing to try anything to get these back up and running. I can get into Target Disk mode if that helps but don't know what to do after that. I do have a working Mac Mini that I can use to help with Target Disk Mode.
Thanks!
