I'm really interested in starting a blog..

I have a few ideas on what I'd like to blog about but haven't chosen anything yet..

Whats the best site for blogging?

Who all has a blog? Care to post!

Any advice.....how do you make time for blogging around your work etc?

I like Wordpress. You can host right on their servers, or get your own VPS running basic LAMP and install Wordpress. Not too difficult at all.

As for blogging...it's all about good content and regular updates. Once you get going you have to keep the content coming. You have to give your readers a reason to keep coming back.

I'm not sure what the stats are but unless you have a big budget for advertising/marketing expect it to take a long time to get quality traffic to your blog.

Wordpress is the platform of choice. The themes are endless and come in whatever quality and look you want.

It pays to self host, if you can. Update regularly, even if it means less often (as opposed to a burst of posts, then nothing, then a burst, then nothing, etc).

Use social media effectively to pick up traffic and share your articles. Pick the topic, handle it right, and in a year you may never have to work again.

:)

Thanks for the advice. Forgot I started this thread.

I'm sport science student and about to embark on my final year. I'm also in the process of transforming my body (been injured and consequently gained weight and wanna get back to my best) so I was going to start a blog on the world of sport, exercise and fitness...including science, psychology, marketing, management...everything...and then tie it in with what topics we are studying in class so is sort of a tool for revision too (obviously not my only one but you know what I mean....making it into a hobby and helping other people rather than just making my study notes...which I'll prob do too anyway)
