I've been using an iphone 11 for a couple of years now but just picked up an iphone SE (3rd gen), and one of my frustrations with this phone is that a number of apps don't work properly on the SE. Sometimes the graphics simply don't display properly, you can't see everything that is supposed to be displayed, I can't press buttons to get to the next screen, etc. I always go and check on my iphone 11 whenever I have a problem, and sure enough it works fine on that phone. I'm guessing this is because not all apps have been optimized for the smaller screen size of the SE? But it just seems like these sort of bugs are something owners of this phone shouldn't have to deal with, since after all the iphone SE has been on the market since 2016. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there any effective workaround when you run into an app that isn't working properly, other than to switch to another phone?

Other than asking developer to fix the bug there is no way.

I have several apps that fail to show good on 11 Pro but open normally on SE 3 because those are quite old and were developed for smaller displays. Probably same thing happened with newer apps since developers use newer SDKs and “forget” that Apple still sells notchless small iPhones.

Also I have apps that somehow do not work correctly on newer iOS versions. Those are photo editing apps I used since my iPhone 5 – Tadaa SLR and Tadaa. Whenever I export photo on any device running iOS 15 and up, it doesn’t export image full size and instead gives 3 megapixel image. Developer seems to have forgotten about the apps and I have nothing to replace them with, and I don’t want to use any of those lame subscription based apps that do not even have the filters I want
