1. Will you be able to purchase it on the Apple site? If not, where can you get it if you arent close to an Apple Store?

2. How much will it cost?

3. If I just got a new contract with Cingular, can I get the phone?

4. Can I use my current SIM chip?

5. How big are movie files for that size screen? (full length movies)

Yes

2. How much will it cost?
Probably $499/$599

3. If I just got a new contract with Cingular, can I get the phone?

Yes, you will be able to upgrade.

4. Can I use my current SIM chip?
I'd have thought so though if not you can transfer your numbers over.

Same as those on Bitorrent, so 500MB or so.

Movies depend on compression. If for iPod/Apple TV 1.5-2GB. If reduced bitrate, etc. less than 1GB.

As far as buying, I would think Apple Store and Cingular/AT&T stores, might not be able to order online b/c activation/sim etc. We'll see.

How scratch resistant is the screen? Every cell ive ever had got scratches EASILY... This being all touch, could be an issue.

Also, I have a great plan that I got when I signed up for V-Day... unlimited data for 29.99... I dont want to lose that... Can I just get the phone and keep my plan and pay rate?

We don't know anything about how scratch-resistant the screen is. David Pogue (I think) noted that smudges and such on the screen aren't visible until the screen is off.

We have no idea if AT&T will offer current plans, something like current plans, or completely new iPhone plans. Could go any way.

I've pre-ordered the Invisible Shield for my iPhone. I'm hoping that the iPhone surface is very scratch resistant and won't need it but I'm not counting on it. I just hope that the iPhone will work with the I.S. installed. I already contacted ShieldZone regarding this nad they said I could have a refund if their product doesn't work with the iPhone.

i usually order a screen protector for all of my gadgets, but from what david pogue has said from his hands-on usage of the iphone, it doesn't sound like it will work (see part 2 of his iphone FAQ here)...

God I want this phone... im hoping they bring ichat to it though.

i thought i read somewhere either here or on howard forums, that because of the multi-touch screen, the protectors won't work... but i could be wrong.

I'm assuming that a screen protector will not work but have ordered one anyway just in case. First thing I'll do is put the I.S on my iPhone straight out of the box. If the screen multi-touch doesn't work then I'll take the I.S. off and get a refund.

I dont mind signing up for 2 more years, but it better be at the same deal i have now... Id be HEATED if they charged me more for data.
