this is from buy dot com on ebay price is 616 and I have a lot of coupons so I can get this at 500 for my quad core 2010 2.8

it is intel part number bx80613w3670

YEAH looks that way to me too so I just pulled the trigger. Cost was 518 after discounts. That is about 400 lower then buying the w3680 from buy dot com on ebay. so 518 out of pocket vs 900.


I can sell the quad 2.8 cpu for 200.

so for 318 net the machine should get a nice boost.


this should give me scores of 14000 on geek bench vs the 9800 i get now.

For $300 this definitely is a worthy upgrade. Would have done it myself.

However, I hope you get the right stepping. AFAIK, not all steppings work with the Pro.

There is only one version of W3670 and it has B1 stepping (same as W3680 and W3690).

Oh, alright. It's a drop in replacement then.

The sockets in all 2010 machines are lidded, so the upgrade is no different than on a PC.

yes the intel cpu arrived yesterday. Company sells it with full 3 yr warranty and a 30 day return policy. My arctic silver kit arrives on Thur the 24th. I hope to have a complete set of install photos near APR 1. A little eye candy two shots of sealed box.
