some iMac questions!

Hi all!I decided to get myself an iMac 24"!but i have some questions and i hope that you can answer them!so here we go-

1.How is the gaming on Ati 2600 and nvidia 8800?i m want to play FPS and flight sims in high-ish settings,is that possible?also,is it possible to upgrade your video card?and if yes,will it void your warranty?


2.does iMac get hot?and how is the noise?

3.can i use it as a monitor(with some external staff)?cos i want to hook up my ps3 with it.

4.will it be updated in next 3-4 month?

5.if i get applecare,will it make my warranty international?and if it comes with dead pixel,can i take it to our apple store and ask for repair?cos i ll order oversee and if something happens i dont want to ship it back to US!

2) Mine only gets slightly warm, it's barely noticeable (mainly more towards the top of the screen).

5) I'm pretty sure even the standard one-year warranty is international. As long as it's covered with some sort of warranty (so either the standard or Applecare), any Apple store should be able to take care of problems. They won't replace it or anything if it's only one or two dead/stuck pixels, a certain percentage of the screen has to be defective before they do anything as dead pixels are something that happens with any LCD screen.

2. Noise is no problem with an Imac,its silent like a falling leaf.

3. That should be possible,but I`m not 100 percent sure

4. An update is possible, next month is a convention in Paris so it could be, but noone can say for sure

No it's not possible. The iMac is basically a laptop in a desktop shell and is about as upgradable.

Just a word of caution here...

2. The iMac is 'relatively' silent, however I can clearly hear the fan blowing in mine. It is not overly loud, but quite annoying because I wanted it to be completely silent!

3. Using the iMac as a monitor is not possible, there is no kind of video-in.

hmm,i contacted our Authorized reseller and they said that they dont support applecare here!!!is that possible?also can someone comment 8800gs performance?

If you're going to be playing games, I'd get the 8800.

The Radeon is fine, but it's not upgradeable so the choice you make now is what you'll have to stay with.

Having said that, I played Call of Duty 4 on full with the 2600 and am currently playing Crysis with everything on medium.
