Some macbook questions.....

Ok ladies, i want to upgrade my 60gb hd on macbook, whats a good one?
I know nothing about hard drives at all - how hard is it to install on a macbook?
i would like the ones that have pretty good storage space + no noise or sound or heat / doesnt suck up too much battery

does speed really improve with 7200RPM drives?
is it a good season to buy hardrives now? (ie its not good to buy ram now coz of price spike)
do i have to buy apple compatible ones? or any type?

I currentl have a 250gb external hard drive, is there a software around so that it can sync several folders on my macbook whenever i boot my external hard drive up?

I think HDD's price is pretty solid, well for notebooks at least.

If you access your hard drive heaps i think you would definately notice a difference.

The 7200rpm 100 GB drives that i have been looking at are all the same price pretty much all have 8mb cache etc... i havent found any differences really. Some reviews would be nice! but, no dice so far

Just make sure its fits into the Macbook! 9.5mm deep and make sure its SATA

Battery life I have no idea about. I dont think you would need to worry about noise

Noise is an issue if you are rabid about it like me. I like Samsung Spinpoint drives because they really are noticeably quieter than the competition. No 7200rpm drives though, but ultimate speed doesn't worry me especially as I plump for the biggest drives always (which is usually not 7200rpm) on laptops. There's also heat, which the Samsung once again is very good at. With the Apple Hibachis I would imagine it's a good idea to have the smallest number of excessively heat-generating components in there at any one time.

Ain't such a thing as a hard drive with no noise, sound or heat.

Seagate Momentus or Hitachi Travelstar are the ones to look for.
7200's seem to be a bit hotter, which may be an issue in the MacBook I don't know.

If you are having problems about heat or want your system to run a little cooler you could always use http://homepage.mac.com/holtmann/eidac/. Sure the fans make some noise, but I still love running 80% of the things on my dock and under 100F.
