Well first off its pretty bold that you named yourself "iPhone Playa" and are not even sure you're going to like it:)

If you're not eligible for an upgrade, the common scenario is that you're going to have to pay retail price. But the iPhone may be the exception here, because the prices that we know of may be the price for any situation you're in. We have not been notified of what stipulations there are regarding price. More than likely if you buy the phone, you will just been extending your contract, so instead of expiring next year, it will be expiring in June 2009.

June 29th will be hit or miss day. You're going to stand in line, and you're going to find out all you need to know when you get there. So good luck

$499 or $599. "upgrade eligibility date" is moot, as there is one price. 2 yr contract required. Supersedes current plan. 2 years from date of purchase. New customer, old customer, upgrade, sidegrade, retrograde, downgrade, etc., etc.,. Per AT&T as of phone conversation on the 13th.

I am currently with Sprint and the real deciding factor for me will be how much the data plans are with Cingular/ATT. I have 1 year left on my contract but if the iPhone is really that good I might just consider paying the fee to get out of my contract and switch to ATT. But I don't know what the phone minutes + data plans with be that's the real deciding factor. Currently I am only paying an extra $15 per month for unlimited data acces from my phone.

i would also really like to see the plan information cz if its too expensive then i probably wont be able to purchase one
i wish they would just release the plans im hoping for bundles
i allready pay $60 monthly and i think if i have to pay anymore it mite be pushing it a little bit

with a name like that you need to buy one...or remove yourself from the forum immediately. :) jk

It's not too hard to speculate costs for the iPhone. Just take a look at what AT&T currently offers and expect it to be something similar to that:

Average single user plan: Nation 900 anytime, unlimited mobile to mobile, nights weekends, 1500 text: $59.99 /mon

Some equivelant to SmartPhoneMax Data Plan: Unlimited data, e-mail, internet: $29.99/mon

Don't expect to walk out with a fully funtional iPhone without a $90 /mon, 2 year contract.

It's not for the frugal...
