Hi, I'm not very clever so could I have some really simple help

I have an original iPhone and I want to use my work sim in it. obviously I need to break the phone in some way. I'm happy to pay for this. All I want is the work sim to work in the phone and to use email and calendar functionality linked into exchange.

what is the best and simplest way to guarantee this works? I have an imac and a laptop pc. I don't want to risk mucking up my itunes or other iphone which I now use as my personal phone...

please help with some straightforward advice....

I'd advise not mixing work phone with personal phone. :)

You can't just swap the SIm and have exchange, etc on it, if you plan on taking it out and using your SIM in it again. If not, you can do so easily if both are AT&T SIM cards. If not, just use Pwnage Tool to jailbreak and use BootNeuter to unlock. There's stickie's here or just Google away. :)

sorry, to clarfy.

I have a 3g phone now which will stay my personal one. I'm in the UK.

I want to use my old original iphone to take my work sim card. the sim card will stay in there. I want to be able to use the same computer to sync both for music etc but this is not vital at all.

Should I buy one of the bits of software available which say they do it all for you? are any goodvalue and work?

Phone O2. They unlock iPhones now.

Alternatively, go to iclarified.com and follow the relevant tutorial.

Do not pay for any software. The people who develop it give it away for free.

So did your original iPhone not use the same service as your work SIM card now? If not, you could just unlock the phone yourself after you jailbreak. Whatever you do tho, do not pay for any software, it's given away freely. :)

Pwnage Tool to jailbreak, BootNeuter to unlock. There are stickie's here or I would head over to iClarified for a tutorial. :)
