I know they added a "Selfies" folder in iOS 9...however, I've recently noticed that sometimes pictures that I take of myself, or myself with friends/family using the front-facing camera, do not end up in the selfies folder. Sometimes they do, however.

Has anyone else noticed this and is there a rhyme or reason to it?
[doublepost=1457323370][/doublepost]Actually..I may have found a reason for this. It appears as though if I'm in the "Messages" app and I tap on the camera icon, choose "Take Photo or Video", and then take a selfie...it won't show up in the "Selfies" folder, rather just the camera roll. However, if I open up the camera app and take a selfie, it will show up there.

Maybe someone can confirm this is the case?

I've seen the same behavior. Have you opened a bug on this issue?

I have not yet, as I wasn't sure if other people were having the issue. Not sure what the best way to submit the bug would be..I'll do a search on their site and see if I can get it on the radar

Thanks for the reply

I just did a test, and the EXIF data in a picture taken with the front camera does not contain the model of the camera, date or time, while photos taken with the camera app do contain this info. This was probably done on purpose, as when sending pictures via mms, the EXIF data is lost anyways.

Thanks for the technical info! So, this would explain why the ones taken in MMS don't go to selfies folder while the ones taken with camera app do? And that technical information is needed to properly sort the pictures?
Just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly.

No. The OS knows you took a pic from the front camera and could have placed that photo in the selfie folder if it wanted to (regardless of the EXIF data). It may be an oversight or a bug, not sure.
