I just noticed something weird today with my iPod Classic. Using the latest version of iTunes, songs will transfer and it'll say Sync Complete. However, about four songs into the newly added album, the songs won't play. They show up, but just sit at 0:00 minutes and then go to the next track, which also doesn't play.

In addition to all this, the artwork doesn't show up on the iPod even though it shows up in iTunes. What's going on here?

Have you tried resyncing again? Were they purchased through iTunes? Do those four songs play correctly in iTunes on the computer?

It may be the MP3 headers

I've noticed iTunes doing this for files that have corrupt MP3 headers. They usually show up fine in various programs that read and display them, but there's something about them that iTunes -- or, rather, your iPod -- doesn't like. Using a program to rewrite the headers and syncing the songs again afterward will fix it. You can try editing some of the headers in iTunes, but I've used external programs on Windows to do this in bulk.
