I've been having this issue for a few years and I'm at a loss for what is going on. When I open the messages app, click on a person's name, and then open the full list of photos that we have sent to each other, some of the pictures have the screen mirroring logo instead of a thumbnail (see example attached).
This has been occurring for a few years now on multiple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac). It has occurred on different iPhones despite restoring and reindexing. I find it's mostly screenshots that are affected, but it happens with regular pictures too. It has been getting especially bad with iOS 18.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Any thoughts on how to fix it? On my Mac they just show up as a jpeg icon.
