The other thread where I posted about this was locked. I figure this is worthwhile to add to the discussion. I go to George Washington University, and the media reports about them blocking the iPad are way sensationalized.

GW uses the Juniper SSL VPN client for wifi security. The iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad simply do not support this feature currently. It's actually coming with 4.0:

So, they're not specifically blocking iPads or any of that BS. It's a deficiency on Apple's end for support of their VPN solution.

As in iOS 4.0?

I go to GW and debating whether or not to buy an iPad because of the whole wifi issue.

On GW's tech website, it says, "Full functionality will support a range of platforms beyond the iPad and enhanced security measures for on-campus users. We are continuing with this rollout because our initial feedback from users is that our current system, which requires logging into a web page for access, is not the best solution for the mobile user. We expect to have the iPad and iPhone functional this summer and to be at full functionality by spring 2011."
