some VMware questions

so i'm new to the whole virtualization scene, as i was using bootcamp and dont really go into windows all that often. But recently i have had to use some work-related software which has me going into windows more often, and rebooting is getting pretty annoying, I dont play computer games at all so i figured i would give VMware a shot.

my questions:

-I'm not really sure how the whole thing works, does windows boot up once you start the program? or is it already running?

- I dont like the idea of having windows constantly running on my system just waiting for me to fire up VMware. so does windows pretty much shut down when you quit the application?

When you start the program (after you've installed windows), it is like starting windows--complete with that loading screen. However, you also have the option of suspending windows, so you don't have to go through the start up process every time.
Regarding your second question, I'm not quite sure what you're asking. VMware is a program like any other. Once you exit, it's no longer using up system resources. Also, there are no residual programs left afterward (unlike with iTunes). Looking at the activity monitor after I shut down VMware, it's no longer listed.

I like using VMware. Because Netflix is obviously populated by Mac-hating losers, I have to use IE to use the instant watch feature. Also, it's been extremely useful for running certain programs that are windows only (e.g., CCCP).

I guess my second question was if you choose to suspend windows for quick launch when you start up vmware is it like in sleep mode and using up some system resources, or is there any residual left behind.... i think you answered my second question as well.
