Someone make a gas app!

The WHERE app has a gps enabled gas station finder widget that tells you the gas prices at each station. It does not list every station in the area, but is as good as I can find at the moment. I agree that a cheap gas app specifically for that purpose would be really nice.
From what I can tell, most such things on Web sites aren't all that great because there's no big network of gas prices that the vast majority of places report to. Why? I haven't a clue. That's what is needed first before an app is developed to do such a thing.
Why would they? That's like asking why there's no big network of hamburger prices. Why would anyone do that?
The sites that are out there now post user-submitted prices, I think. That's how they work.
I would (at the moment) just use those websites on the iPhone. It might be worth e-mailing them all and asking them if they're developing an iPhone app. That's the quickest way to get one: have an existing site make an app of their already-existing web page.
If they get enough questions about it they may decide it's worth the effort.
I use Where for that. It's fast, uses GasBuddy info, and it's been perfect every time I've used it.

I don't know about CA, but here in VA, Costco gas is like the plague. Many people have had problems with water and particle contamination.
Finding the cheapest gas is worth real money every time. I did my own survey of gas stations in my area and found that the station that is cheapest one week may not be the cheapest the next week. Picking the cheapest one over the most expensive one in the area can save a few dollars every time I fill up.
Actually what I think would be more useful (since there are already apps that allow you to search GasBuddy for prices nearby) is an app that is just a front-end for the price entry field on GasBuddy. That way it would be a lot easier for people who are out and about to just pull it up and punch in the prices for the gas stations they see on the go. Of course, having one where you could look up the prices in the same app would make sense too.
Ooo this would be nice! Though I often wonder if its worth the hassle to save $1.50 (15 gallon tank, 10 cent difference)

Been using Costco gas for several years now. no problem whatsoever. By using Amex Business card, I get 5% back too.
