my 24" iMac came with 1GB of memory, but I want to double that as soon as possible. the problem is I have always grown up on PC hardware, but I don't have a clue when it comes to this Mac stuff.

so I figured I would ask the Mac pros in this forum to see what brand name memory I should get. I think mine has the PC2-5300 type, right? if so, please give me a link or two as to where I can find the best option for the best price.

thanks in advance.

Frys has always been good to me for good prices on RAM and I've never had a problem with the RAM. You want RAM that is PC2 5300, like you said, make sure that it is SO-DIMM RAM.

If I want to buy another gig from crucial, should I get the PC2-5300 for $50 or the PC2-6400 for $100? Is the difference important enough to justify that much of a price increase? Thanks for the insight. :)
