Wow do I feel like a fool... I took in my iPod to an apple store on friday telling em' I only get 4 hours out of it... which was true.. in shuffle mode, with eq set to rock, and with sound check.. nd volume at 75% , nd click wheel on>_<...... ne way they took it in and did their "play test"... today i check the status online and it says "ready to pick up" nd like WTF... what about a replacement? nd so i called em nd they were like "yeah we get 7 hours and 45 min out of it" :( nd im like 'HOW?" nd their like we did our play test by turning everything OFF and having it play ONE FREAKIN song OVER AND OVER AGAIN... nd im like that way the hard drive never spins up?! nd he's like yea.. its purely a battery test my loyal apple customer... nd im like okay so ur telling me if i turn off a few things like sound check and eq nd stuff i get the battery to last longer? nd he was like yea.. nd i closed of with "yeah but that ain't the real world, o well" SMACK DOWN I SAY ahahha

in other words i guess u learn something new everday eh?

and another thing.. how come i had to call? don't they usually call u? hrm...

It is true about Sound Check and EQ. Keep them off and I bet you will see a lot better performance out of your battery.

I am trying to understand when you say "something i did not know" was that sarcastic?

Anyways- That was a poor test done by Apple. I can understand them turning all of the extras off. But you have to be able to change songs. That is ridiculous. How old is your iPod?

this has always been apples method of checking the battery, and in fact i believe other companies use the same procedure, its not supposed to be a 'real world' test, its just to determine the battery integretry of your ipod

It reminds me of the way tobacco companies used to test how big doses of the various drugs in cigarettes a smoker would inhale - something like a robot that took a puff every 10 sec without blocking the little holes in the filter with fingers... very far away from the real world.
Pretty annoying apple makes just as useless test just 'cause it makes their stats better.

I thought the test they suggest on their Support page includes playing a whole album over and over. That's how I test mine anyway.

I SHNAP! when i picked up the ipod at the store.. i checked it out and guess what 2300 songs! yikes! i told the dude that there were songs on it nd he was all "eh im busy with a customer do whatever u want with em..." nd im like rito.. lol.. at least i got something out of it eh? weird thing is.. most of these guys i don't like lol.. the bands that is :p

frap.. none of these songs are protected aac's.. what was this dude thinkin.. maybe he took it home to test it? because it looks like a personal library.. not something.. from the store... nd i know its my pod cuz of the markings on the back

Just to make sure I am clear, does:

"nd" mean "and"?

"ne way" mean "anyway"?

"em" means "them"?

"yea" means "yeah"?

"ur" means "you are"

"u" means "you"?

...I have such a hard time keeping up with the kids these days!

:D

so has ne one else had a similar issue with the music on the ipod already?
