...with the 1.0.1 Firmware Update to my MacBook Pro:

Better battery life!

Anybody else experiencing this? With 99%, one bar of brightness, and one processor running (Airport on, Bluetooth off), I'm getting a time left prediction of about 4 hours (running Safari and iChat), contrary to the previous almost-three-hours I was getting before the update.

Well, I wish that I had a MBP to test this. But if the update gave you better battery life, then that sounds like a reason to party! *;) :)

hmm. Unless something's happened to the power consumption, I doubt the actual length of battery life is better. Perhaps the prediction is more accurate, but real up-time can't have changed.

Yeah, it's probably a prediction correction. I do, however, remember reading somewhere that the battery life can be changed by future firmware updates, and that the power saving/consumption stuff integrated into how the firmware interacts with Mac OS X can be upgraded, so technically couldn't the power saving techniques used be refined with a firmware or OS update?

I've also noticed mine spending a lot of time in the mid to high 3 hour range lately. I also stopped using the widget hack and attributed it to that, but maybe its a combination of the two.

Any PB users can compare the MBP's batterylife with PB (15/17" rev. E)?:)

I have also noticed better battery life after 1.0.1

Although it could be that I just re-calibrated the battery…

Anyone ever found that the battery actually got better over time?

Wow, that's good to know. Since I currently have a 15 inch HP laptop (horrible, yes), I get about 1 hour of battery life off of the sucker. It blows, but I hope to be buying my MBP within the next month or so...

5500 mAh? Imagine if they use that kind of battery in an iBook (the iBook's battery is 4400 mAh). That would rock! The iBook can easily get 4 hours with its battery.

Just a tip: it has been proven that you will get better battery life if you leave both processors enabled. I tested this on my MBP, and you lose about half an hour if you diable a processor.

The processor is very efficient when dividing tasks between the two cores. So, I suggest leaving them both enabled.

With my MPB 16 battery cycles, calibrated 2 days ago I'm showing 5528. Interesting.

Okay, I managed to turn off the RDF long enough to take this pic. One bar of brightness, AP, BT off. Running safari, iCal, Mail, and Final Draft. Oh yeah and Grab.

Is that solid, meaning does it continue to drop significantly until it stops, or does it stop there, and actually start counting down from that time?

If so, how'd you do that!? :)
