I wonder if colorware's paint or clear coat is non-conductive...

That would probably be the best possible solution to the reception issue if that were in fact the case.

I bet if they don't have it, they will soon.

But cost vs a simple bumper case is tough.
 
I wouldn't use any paint or chemicals. Besides, you can't just remove it.

If you want a naked look & feel, scotch tape works wonders I hear.
