Got my wi-fi 32GB at launch. If the iPad was fully charged and I unplugged it at 9pm and then didn't touch it, usually in the AM I would of lost 2-3% charge overnight. Last night did the same the only difference is I turned off my mail push, notifications etc. Woke up this morning and I was still at 100%, came home for lunch and I'm still at 100%, been running a video for the last 15 mins and still at 100%....can this be accurate or is my battery stuck somehow thinking its fully charged? Just doesn't seem consistent with what its been doing since launch. Only things I've done differently is for the first time since getting it at launch, I let the battery drain all the way to about 15% and then fully charged it I also turned off those services I mentioned above. Could the battery actually be getting more efficient or is it just stuck? Anyone else seeing this?

Say launch one more time, I dare you, SAY IT!

I haven't seen this behavior but its probably fine. By the time you read this it will say 99% :)

The battery indicator you see at the top of the iPad is a little slow when then battery goes from 100% to about 95%, after which point it starts to catch up.

You can check the actual percentage the battery is reporting with the free app Pad Info.

That is odd. Are you exaggerating a bit on the amount used? If not, I'd say reboot it and see if it starts reading more appropriate battery strength numbers. I can understand saving some battery by removing some unneeded things, but after playing video you should be using battery. It's probably a glitch.

not exaggerating at all...I did reboot twice still was showing 100% when I left, I also plugged it into the charger and it showed the plug not the charging symbol. Im at work now but going to see what its showing when I get home in about 4 hours. If its still showing 100% something has to be up. Gonna try loading that app also, like I said it had been draining pretty normally but seems to be sustaining 100%, maybe its what caliwolv said and I just never noticed the 100% - 95% drop. Im pretty certain that regardless over night I would lose 3% on average without using it at all, but I have turned off all push notifications, I don't expect that made a huge difference.

Have you tried to calibrate the battery --

1) charge it up and let it rest for a couple hours after charged.
2) remove from charger & let it run completely down to the point it turns itself off.
3) let the iPad remain in this state for 3-4 hours.
4) recharge and you should get normal battery life for a battery in similar condition.

I have turned off all push notifications, I don't expect that made a huge difference.

Push uses up a lot of battery power if its set to constantly push. If its set to push only at long intervals then it shouldn't make a difference.

I have noticed the same... Seems to stay on 100% for a while.. It seems to get more accurate around 95%. I wouldn't worry too much....

I did have it set to constantly push maybe thats the difference I'm seeing but still seems odd I wouldn't lose even 1% over night

Doesn't it have a month of standby time? Which would mean if it isn't doing anything like push you probably won't see it drain much in sleep/standby mode.

Meter is only an estimate

Measuring battery life is not an exact science. There is no specific metric that gives amount of battery life remaining. The best you can do is look at open circuit voltage and charging voltage in the context of device charge/discharge history and make a calculated guess. This is especially true at battery states of full charge and full discharge. The fact that you see a reading of 100% after some device usage just shows that even the superb engineers at Apple cannot alter the laws of thermodynamics.

Steve Jobs himself called it 'magical.'

Perhaps he utilized black magic to allow it to recharge off of your soul and the rest of us who have to plug it in have no souls?!?!

Or battery calibration :D

Just got home.......yep still at 100% battery life......since 9pm last night....Im going to run videos constantly and check again after I put the kids to bed in a few hours and see what its at....something is not right

And after hitting the submit reply button.....Im now at 99% lol....shutting off push for email etc....makes a huge difference its lasted with some minimal use from about 9pm last night till right now dipping to 99%

Wow this is new.
Someone complaining about the battery life being too good lol.
