Say I have most or all of my video footage pieced together in iMovie then I "share" with Garage Band to edit the audio tracks I put in. Well, say I spent 3 hours editing audio and then I realize I need to do more in iMovie... Garage Band won't give me the options to "share" (or re-share) with iMovie.

Also, each time you share between apps are you losing quality?

I believe garageband just makes its own project file.

Edit: I suppose I should add some more info... :p

One you have saved the project file (in garageband) you can click on the audio tab in imovie and maximize the garageband part-than its a matter of clicking on the garageband project. (I think)

Yeah, I can't open that project file in iMovie though. My only option after saving the changes in Garage Band are send to iDVD, send to iTunes, and send to something else that isn't iMovie.
