Something to consider for iPad Buyers

IF you want to use iWork on your iPad, are you sure every time you want to copy something (like wikipedia data) from safari to keynote... you have to close keynote, open safari copy data, close safari, open keynote, navigate to the slide....

it takes so much more time than on a "netBook"

Considering I'd actually use the iPad vs the netbook that isn't practical at all....

considering that the ipad is not a computer for productivity I'm not worried.

The example you give will occur only very rarely. You have you presentations made on your MBP or iMac and then on the plane/bus you think you should add one slide. This happens maybe once a month or maybe a week. Not a big deal.

If you of course hope this iPad can replace a MBP then you're better off buying a MacBook Air (refurb for $1300) or a MBP (refurb for $1099) then buying a iPad for 700-850 dollar.

Just saying it wouldn't fly in the academic circles. But I digress, the same applies to the books in iBooks probably.

Open iBook -> Copy -> Open notes -> Paste. Although I think it will be plenty fast for that operation.

well if you ask me.... when you close safari on iphone it saves the page for when you open it back up, similarly quickoffice does that too, so in my eyes, its just the same as minimizing

I doubt anyone is planning to make presentations with iPad. You'll make it on a Mac and then edit and have a final touch on it with iPad and maybe use it for outputting it to a larger screen.

And you shouldn't plagiarize it straight from Wikipedia!

You have no idea how the OP intends to use the copied material. They could be showing examples of how information is posted on Wikipedia, or many other possibilities. The OP didn't indicate they were trusting Wikipedia content as infallible or a reliable source.

It's not plagiarism, since Wikipedia content is not copyrighted, is public domain, and doesn't have the author listed. The OP could be using a Wikipedia reference that the OP posted on Wikipedia.

You have it a bit wrong.

You have to go the Wiki page, copy the information. Close Safari, and open Keynote. That's one more step than on a notebook. You see, while the applications are not officially running, and while you cant have an expose-like UI with more windows, the applications do not shut off in the sense that they are reset. Whenever you open an app, it is exactly where you were last time (unless, for example you set safari to open on a specific page every time).
