Something wrong or a bug with my headphones

I was watching a movie on my computer (Dell Dimension 4700) with my iPhone earbuds and I noticed that the sound isn't as loud as it could be at full volume in Windows and Windows Media Player. Later, out of curiosity, I pressed the button on the earbuds and the sound went way up for a second. When I held it in, the sound stayed high. Is there a problem with my earbuds, or is this with all headphones?

... Or am I not supposed to plug my headphones in a black box filled with crap?

Did you try adjusting the volume in windows media player or just the sound control of the system?

Both were at full volume.

Interesting I have not tried using the earbuds on any other audio device yet. Now I'm curious. I'll have to do some testing.
