After upgrading to iOS 5, I noticed all of my songs in my playlists were organized backwards.
Instead of being ordered from newest to oldest, they're organized oldest to newest.
I tried changing it on iTunes with no luck.
I tried deleting the playlist on my phone and then plugged it into my iTunes, but all that did was delete my playlist with 1,000+ songs in it

I was on the phone with Apple yesterday for about an hour and spoke to two different people.
Neither of them had ever heard of such a problem before, and the only answer I had was "The only thing I can think of would be that, it's supposed to be like that with the update."
I find that very hard to believe.
I restored my phone, and synced it from my backup, but to no avail.
Does anyone else have this problem?

right click on the playlist and go to edit smart playlist and make sure it says

playlist is music

date added is in the last 2 weeks

There is no such option.
My options when I right click are: Open in new window, export, burn to disc, copy to play order, duplicate, and delete

Is the playlist in question a smartplaylist? I had a similar issue where the playlist in question was linked to another smartplaylist. Once I linked it to a standard playlist, that fixed the problem. Hope this helps.

This fixed it for me. Hope it helps you guys.

  • In iTunes, sort the playlist by "Date Added" (or however you wish to sort).
  • Click on the far left number column, the order should stay the same.

  • Now right click on that playlist name and select "Copy to Play Order".
  • Sync your iPhone and it should be in the same order.

Also note that when you add new music to the playlist you might have to press "Copy to Play Order" again, otherwise the new songs will not stay in order when you press the number column.
