hey.

So when I plug my iPhone into my computer and iTunes pops up. Some songs are faded light gray in color and I am unable to play them in iTunes iPhone.

However they play on my phone with data off and no WiFi. At first I thought it was songs that weren’t really on my phone, but they are.

So why are they grayed out?

iPhones don't play songs from the computer. They play that have been synced or else they stream.

Are they greyed out in iTunes or the iPhone? Just for clarification.
When I plug I my iPhone to my computer and iTunes opens. I am able to view the music on my phone through iTunes.

Some of those tracks are grayed out.

Without my phone plugged in all those songs are not grayed out on my iTunes.

Make sense?

Kinda... which songs are grayed out. The ones displayed in iTunes or the ones displayed in the iPhone?

Not entirely. When you browse your computer's library with iTunes, the songs won't be grayed out. When you browse the songs that have been transferred to your iPhone, they will be.

By default, iTunes automatically manages the syncing of music and video. You can change from automatic to manual like this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201593

Mine is already set to manually. I have to drag all my songs into the phone.

I have attached an image of what I am talking about.

Also interesting the songs in gray are songs I bought. So on my iPhone it will give me option to remove. But the ones in Black will say delete from library.

Hmm strange.
[doublepost=1517000378][/doublepost]I did turn off the option in music settings that used cellular data to update library and artwork. Since I think that’s not needed if I do manually music on my phone.
