We have a 2nd generation ipod shuffle. We plugged it into the computer, and itunes and the computer recognize it, no problem. Unfortunately, the songs under the content tab are grayed out and inaccessible. We have the "Enable Disc Use" box checked, and we can access the music folder inside the ipod directory.

However, nothing seems to work. Everyone recommends that we check the box labeled "Manually Manage Music and Videos" But there is not such box in the iPod shuffle menu. There is also no such box under Edit>Preferences Menu. Is there any way that we could access the songs in order to add more music from the library to the device, or would we have to erase and sync the ipod?

We have updated all the device drivers and iTunes is fully up to date, so that is not the issue. If anyone could please respond and provide helpful tips or advice, it would be appreciated!
