I upgraded to 3.1 firmware last week, but due to the general feeling of distaste regarding iTunes 9, I have continued using iTunes 8.2.

However, I just noticed last night that the songs in my "Recently Added" and "Recently Played" smart playlists were not in the order they used to be. Until now, I had always seen that the songs were in the same order that they were on my computer, sorted of course by the date of adding in one case, and the date of last play in the other.

I don't know if anyone else actually uses or syncs those playlists, but shouldn't they be in the same order on the iPhone/iPod Touch as they are in iTunes?

...Still leery about switching over to iTunes 9 yet. 100MB of files do not download too fast in Amman; it took 2 days to get each firmware update.

Well, just updated to iTunes 9. Still just as out of order and nonsensical as before. I definitely love the organizing features of the iPod screens now (although they slow my computer down horribly as the images load) but this disorganization is just inexcusable. If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.

Same here. But I just give up. With every iPhone update comes more issues and problems.

Has anyone else seen this problem (songs/podcasts not syncing in same order as on computer) on an iPod 5.5 gen? My husband has this problem and is getting quite frustrated. He moves podcasts around in his playlist in the order he wants to listen, but when they sync, they are in some random order -- not even in an order that we can ascertain what they are ordered on.

So, for him, the 3.1 firmware is not the answer. He has checked and his firmware is reported to be up to date.

Thanks for any help!
