Hi.

So I have a Sonnet Tempo card {bought just recently } in my number 3 - X16- Pcie slot. I have this card booting and showing up as the startup disk upon restart etc, but its like it recognises it as the boot drive, but an external boot drive and thats what I cannot change { the yellow / orange HD icon }

Mac Pro 3/1 - OSX 10.10.3
the SSD is a Samsung 850 Pro
The Pcie card - X16 slot 3 - Have run the firmware updater successfully three times to make sure.
ran Pram / nvram and Smc
Rebooted and changed drives, then changed back again.
Fixed permissions
Ran Disk Warrior

Nada - Still have the annoying orange icon telling me my boot drive / HD is external, yet it behaves like its internal?

Is there something I am missing here?

Tia.

Disks attached to the PCIe slots in the cMacPro are always considered "external" and have the default external icon.

You can easily change that icon to anything you want. Go go the Samsung support web site and find their product disk icons for your SSD. Then bring up "Get Info" for your system drive, highlight the default icon on that pop-up box, and copy/paste the desired icon image to replace the default one. Search around and you will find plenty of "artsy" disk icons available as well if you really want to get creative. Just Google search for disk icons.
