A couple of days ago, I updated my OS from 14.6 to 14.6.1. I usually ignore updates, but since I didn't have any urgent projects running I thought a .1 update couldn't be that bad.
Well, after the update completed it rebooted and gave me a 'System Extension Error' and option to open Security preferences. The errors were with audio drivers for external sound cards I use in the studio (Universal Audio and RME and for some reason there's an Apple Inc. as well). Instead of the usual 'Allow' button, it showed 'Details' which then asks me to enter my password to modify the extensions and then reboot. Upon rebooting, it gives me the same error again. Sound card is not detected at all.
I tried booting into recovery mode to modify the startup extension settings. Mine was already set to allow extensions in the 'Permissive Security' option. I couldn't switch to the 'Reduced Security' option as it gives me some startup disk error. I'm guessing the 'Permissive' option is even more reduced security?
Any ideas on how I could resolve this? I see a few other people complaining on other forums especially after the 14.6.1 update, but no solution yet. It would have been crazy if I had sessions scheduled for today as my sound card is completely useless at this point. I'm not sure what Apple is doing messing up extensions, but once I resolve this I probably won't update for a long time.
