I have an internet outage (thanks Cox!) - so I was forced to use Personal Hotspot from my iPhone 13(17.3), this is when I discovered an issue with my MacStudio running Sonoma (14.3)

The MacStudio would connect to the iPhone, but no internet was available. I tried other devices: iPad(17.3) and an old iMac without any issues of any kind using the internet through Personal Hotspot.

Turns out there is a bug with DNS in Sonoma (or at least there appears to be)

Workaround is to remove DNS Servers from any you have listed. (System Settings/Network/Wifi/Details/DNS)

Internet works after this.

Of course you'll have to re-enter any DNS entries for Wifi, so maybe write them down first.

cheers

The DNS servers that have been removed, are they local IP addresses or public ones?
I had to test this now lol

but yes, public IPs have no issue with Personal Hotspot. Makes sense now, though I didn't have to do this DNS switch with my iMac, at least I understand the problem and can get around. thanks again!
