Sonoma Mail: creates blank new messages

Never had this before updating to Sonoma.

The Sonoma mail client creates lots of empty compose windows which will not close by clicking on the red dot, nor the X of a tab, nor typing cmd+W. Quitting mail removes the windows, restarting mail brings up one blank window that has additional tabs added to it "semi-randomly". Noticed new blank windows when changing spaces.

These blank windows cannot be used; there's no focus and you cannot type in them. Can click on the tabs and move them around.

Have no extensions installed.

Anyone else got this?

First I've heard of this. Not using Sonoma yet here.

I'm wondering if it could be a rogue app sending a "new mail message" signal.

I have the exact same problem as described by Glenny2lappies in November last. I have reinstalled OS 14.3 but no change. So are you referring to some other update?

I am still on 14.2.1 🤔. Try save mode?
But if you have already reinstalled 14.3, I have no idea 🤷‍♂️
