I am using a Macbook Pro 15" v9,1 Mid-2012 - updated to OCLP 1.3 with "AMFIPass.kext" installed + Sonoma 14.3.1 + VMware Fusion 13.5 and kept getting the VMware Fusion: "Error (VMDB) -14: Pipe connection has been broken". Thanks to the thread Ventura / VMware Fusion: "Error (VMDB) -14: Pipe connection has been broken" I learned I needed to downgrade to VMware Fusion 13.0.1, and force dGPU. I am able to run Windows 10 on my old mac without any issues.

Steps I used:
1) Sonoma needs VMware Fusion13.0.1 (had to downgrade from my purchased version 13.5)
2) Fusion13 needs the dGPU to be used (if one is present)
a) dGPU can be turned on permanently via "System settings/Battery/Options/Automatic switching of graphics modes=off"
b) use "gfxCardStatus by Cody Krieger" to manually enable the dGPU.
c) add the line mks.forceDiscreteGPU="TRUE" to the .vmx file to make Fusion switch dGPU on.
3) Fusion13 does not like AMFI to be set off: I had to update to OCLP v1.3 and manually add AMFIPass.kext v1.4 to the /Library/Extensions folder then rebuild and install Opencore + Post Install Root Patch.
