Does anyone have one of these, if so what are your thoughts. looking to spend around £500-£600 on slr digital. I like the Nikon D50 but the new sony has more Pixels. All I want it for is action photo's (off-roading) for a magazine I put together and family etc. I am not to bothered about interchangable lenses, just want one that will do most.

I've played around with one and I think you'd be better getting an DSLR and a single lense appropriate for sports photography. Focussing with the R1 would be too slow. It's a great great camera though, but probably not for what you want to do. It was also more expensive than a Nikon D50.

do what he says.

Listen to Abstract. If I were to do it all over again I would have bought a nice canon digital SLR instead of my sony DSC-F828. The picture quality from my point of view is much better on a canon than an all in one sony. Plus you have more options with a canon (lens, flash, etc.). Oh well live and learn..
