Sony Ericsson S500 is the latest addition to Sony Ericsson slider family. It's only 14mm thick and it has 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0 and new ever-changing themes.

Interesting phones I think! Nice to see cheap phone with quality desing (T250). I hope Apple isync soon starts to support UIQ3 phones

Speaking of that iSync compatibility...mmm...BT2.0... I wonder if the phone OS is fast enough to really keep up when the computer is able to sync at BT2 speeds? It would be really nice if the time for a wireless sync could be reduced by 50-75%.

The P1i does indeed look very interesting. I have the M600i at the moment, and love the combination of QWERTY keyboard with touchscreen. Nice to see they've kept a similar keypad in this new model and added WiFi and camera etc. One of the new features is also a "transflective display for bright light conditions"... this sounds good as the current display is difficult to read outdoors. Will definitely be considering this as my next handset, unless there's a 3G version of the iPhone...

neat. the p1 does look interesting. however, i have a p990i (which is back in its box waiting for me to sell it) with which i did not have a good experience, so i'm disinclined to try an SE smartphone again in the near future. i'm just about to start the countdown to the iphone release (if the rumored release date proves to be reliable)...

i will say that SE did seem to work pretty hard after the p990's release to provide updates - i think there have been 3 or 4 firmware updates in the past year that supposedly solved a lot of the issues it had. however, the firmware updates could be installed via PC only, and i gave up trying to get these done on borrowed PCs/intel macs (at the time) and switched to a treo 680. the treo seemed more reliable at first (and connected to my car's bluetooth system and synced with my mac, which the p990 would not do), but it's become more glitchy over time. i have half a mind to buy a basic phone that WORKS reliably all the time, and getting my media/games/PDA functionality needs met from another dedicated device. i'm hoping the iphone will fit do everything i want, but it's a complex device and although i'm fairly confident in apple to do it right, i don't think anyone could get a device that does as much as the iphone will to be +95% reliable...

If it had EDGE and 850MHz, I'd seriously consider it as a replacement for my BB Pearl. But I'm not buying a phone without either of the 2. Even though I have T-Mobile, I sometimes find myself roaming on 850 carriers.

they look ok but I would not get them because they are not flip phones.
I just like the more compact shape of a flip phone when it is not in use. but easier when carrier something in ones pocket

I currently have a T637, but sadly the T650 doesn't really do it for me. I like the T250, but lack of Bluetooth is definitely a deal-breaker.

Not so much that they aren't quadband as much as they only make a couple of models that support GSM 850 (US standard). Most of their phone support GSM 900 (rest-of-the-world standard). Really frustrating if you ask me.

The P1 caught my attention too. I really like the look of it and having bought my girlfriend an M600i I've had a lot of time to play with that and like it. We won't be getting the iPhone down here for some time so it's definitely worth a look for me, although I came very close to buying an N95 the other day (not sure I want to go back to a phone sans-touch screen with that though).

Erm... do you mean SE is unwilling to make QB versions for the US? US cell phones are not generally just unmarked OEM phones shipped to the customer.

I agree, these days Bluetooth is just a requirement for me.

I will most definitely be getting the T650. Loved the T610, so an update is most welcome. Shame it doesn't have a xenon flash, but I can live with that. When it does finally become available (Q3?!?! Dang!) I'm leaning on getting the green... but it'll be good to see them both in the flesh...

It is but I heard rumours a while back of five new UIQ3 handsets to be released by SE this year... I'll definitely check this out when it's released but there may be other goodies too...

i feel your pain. but i just updated my p990 using parallels and the phone is much more responsive. at times i'm temped to get a treo but i'll probably wait a little.

Yep, the US should really get onto the GSM 900 standard. Then they'd be able to get more of the cool phones that are available in Asia and Europe.
