Hi, so my mom's a year into her contract with Rogers Canada, and her experience with her handset keeps getting worse and worse. First, it started with some software related issues -- "slide to answer" not showing up onscreen when receiving calls, keyboard randomly switching to Chinese, really strange stuff.

Next, she noticed the battery wearing off. The phone advertises a good couple hundred hours standby, she gets around 4-6 hours after a full charge, only using it for about 30 mins of that. We decided to call Rogers, they denied that there was a problem and told us to reset it.

Now, the phone won't even send texts. It will sit there for hours saying it's sending, even in areas of excellent service. The only workaround is to send messages multiple times, which is inconvenient for her and confusing for people on the other end.

So I ask you: what do I do? I don't think I can live with this for another two years. We're out of warranty but Rogers claims to have a hardware replacement program for defective phones, but I know that's hit and miss. Any other options? Thanks.

Do a factory reset and/or install a custom rom. That'd be my guess.

Yeah like the other guy said try a factory reset or install a custom rom. My Arc S was slowing up and I ended up flashing DoomKernal with the JJ Hybrid rom found on the XDA website. Now my battery lasts ~ 2 days and the phone works a lot faster than it did before. PM me if you want more details.
