Too bad Sony. I gotta say, I haven't bought a Sony PC in ages. Which is a shame, their Vaio range is pretty nice.

Really sad, the Vaio line are possibly the best laptops out there and certainly the best windows laptop.

High-end Sony VAIOs were among some of the best designed, most functional, innovative electronics out there.

It's a shame. Unfortunately once a market gets price driven such has the PC, people tend to not want to buy the flashier, more innovative, yet much more expensive items such as the VAIO lineup.

Unfortunately that leaves Apple as sole premium PC brand, I believe.

So they dropped out of the ebook market... at least in North America... and now they're looking to get out of the PC market?

It's kinda sad to see the former king of consumer electronics in decline.

I think this is the most appropriate section to post this.

Do you think it's a coincidence that this comes one day after the article yesterday about the Vaio and OSX? Do you think there's any chance Apple might want to acquire some or all of Sony's product lines?

Apple doesn't need the 'brand' to improve their image, and doesn't need the technical skill set. Unlikely. It was marketing speak to drum up their brand image in hopes for a buyer.

makes sense... too many consumers only want to pay low prices, and Sony really is not built or structured to compete with the likes of Acer / Asus / MSI / Samsung etc.

No big loss for Mr. General Public.

The VAIO range did have some unique and innovative stuff back in the day, but now, Apple's laptop and all-in-one offerings are just better and cheaper.
