Sony Xperia Z4v is Coming Exclusively to Verizon This Summer With Solid Upgrades

"It looks like a version of Sony’s new Xperia Z4 will indeed make its way to the US this summer as the Xperia Z4v, a Verizon exclusive. The Xperia Z4v is a lot like its cousin, only it includes a slightly thicker body, slightly bigger battery, and wireless charging, which shouldn’t surprise anyone, since that’s exactly how the Xperia Z3v differed from the Xperia Z3. Oh, it also has an upgraded QHD display over the regular Z4’s FHD display. As for the rest of the specs, you are looking at a 5.2-inch Triluminos QHD display (2560×1440), Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, 32GB storage (with micro SD support), 3,000mAh battery, Quick Charge 2.0 support, wireless charging on both Qi and PMA standards, 20.7MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, and 3GB RAM. the phone runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. The Xperia Z4v will arrive at Verizon “this summer” in black and white colorways. No pricing info was announced today."

Why does Verizon like to uglify devices ?
Lol yeah they didn't try to make it beautiful that's for sure! Then why only Verizon? Sony be releasing this to all carriers.

Sony seem to hate having success on their hands so they make it ugly and release it on 1 carrier at a time when people will be getting ready for iPhone 6S and Note 5 ... Bless them

well, I guess I'm not buying the new sony

nonphablet stock android with a relatively good camera seems to be a unicorn

Nexus or motorola look like the only contenders left for a new phone for me this year (will they have the snapdragon 810?)

If they can quickly jailbreak the new iphone I will probably go back to iOS

I'll keep my GS4 GPE to fiddle with android, hopefully it gets new OS version ROMs. It's a shame I dont really want to leave android but there seems to be no truly premium stock android regular sized smartphone. The snapdragon 810 really screwed things up this year.

I'm reluctant about LG's skin. They also dont sell a noncarrier phone in the USA. I am on ATT, which means locked bootloader on all carrier phones. I could buy a Tmobile LG G4, but I'm not sure if it has all the necessary ATT Bands. I refuse to buy a locked bootloader android phone, might as well just go back to iOS. Just too much crap to put up with. I realize most people dont care about this, but I switched to android for freedom and the ability to always own my device

I'm right there with ya gotluck, and I'll go one further---I won't buy a device that isn't sold unlocked/no carrier branding. That leaves slim pickings among flagship Android devices for me. I really like the recent Motorola and past two Nexus designs but the camera's just aren't up to snuff. It seems that any device running stock (or near stock) Android consistently seem to have subpar cameras--is Google to blame for this? Is the camera software in stock Android the culprit? The best Android cameras seem to be from OEMs that heavily modify the camera software (Samsung, LG, Sony). Does that mean we are doomed to have crappy camera experiences on Nexus devices?

I really don't know what the problem is with stock android and camera. I would say the nexus 6 is probably a good enough camera for me though ( I could compromise a little if it ticks all the other boxes) I just don't want a nexus 6 because of the size. My worry about the upcoming nexus (assuming they make a nonphablet) and Moto x is probably more about the snapdragon 810. Especially once we see how frickin awesome the next Apple processor likely is. What I really want is stock android with an exynos, crazy to say :p

Unlocked Samsung S6 or Note 5 GPE would be my dream Android handset. Samsung hardware (the best now on Android) minus the Samsung software (sorry, I know plenty like it but it truly is also their Achilles heal). I don't care about missing out on the Note's stylus functionality--I'm just now a large phone convert and would love the Note's footprint.
