Seems like one of the most miniscule updates to a flagship phone ever. Honestly I don't see how Sony is claiming this is a new product, it's a Z2 with an 801 processor (which itself is a very minor upgrade from the 800).

yep....i agree. It seems like the Z3 is going to specs from last years flagship phones. I don't get their strategy. Unless they have the Z4 lined up to be released soon they won't be selling very many phones.....

Why can't Sony still make the front bezels smaller?

I don't understand what's keeping then from it.

Didn't bother me at the beginning, but after playing with the Z1 and Z2 it does. They're just huge phones and those huge bezels make them look old and outdated.

Anyway, Sony should at least have included Snapdragon 805. Doesn't make ANY sense to release this Z3 which is exactly the same as the Z2.

I feel there has to be a surprise somewhere there...

Sony made the Xperia ZL with 131.6 x 69.3 x 9.8 mm dimensions. I just don't understand they can't cut back the bezels on the top and bottom as the ZL had similar specs to the original Z sans water/dust resistance.

Sony needs to correct the overheating issues, louder speakers, call quality, and keep the sides smoother and less busy. And pls get rid of the glass rear. I feel even if the G3 is just faux-metal plastic, it is actually the nicer and more comfortable to hold design than the Z2.

So what I've been told from a Sony rep (who themselves were shown the phone last month):

- The Z3 is a minor update to the Z2 hardware wise.
- It is in the flesh, slightly better aesthetically.
- A key feature Sony want to push is additional camera modes (the sensor is either the same as last time not virtually the same). Think what Samsung tried to push with the S4.
- The Z3 won't come packaged with noise cancelling headphones like the Z2 did.
- It will come with different colour options. Bronze being one of them.

The focus of course being the Z3 Compact which is allegedly quite awesome.

Minuscule? It's essentially the same phone. The Z2 already has an 801.

disappointing

i dont understand why Sony keep doing all this ridiculous updating of phones or cameras that barely has much improvement - and launching them so close to each other.

I fail to see a reason to "upgrade" the Z2 later in the same year. I guess it'll have improvements to the software. But wait, that can be backported to the Z2...

Or, they've added OIS to the camera. Now that would be impressive!

OIS would definitely be a reasonable upgrade.

I love my Z Ultra, but I wish its camera was just a bit more capable.

I wish AT&T would start bringing these XPERIA devices to us WITH all of the various required LTE bands. It would be nice to try out other Android devices, that aren't HTC or Sammy.

This is kinda underwhelming.......

Everything from Sony has been underwhelming for a while now.
Once they ruled the world and now they are irrelevant, and it's simply their own fault. Unwillingness to compete. Laziness comes to mind.

The main thing is to slim those god damn BEZELS down.

Everything else is fine, but just trim the fat, Sony.
