Soon to be a Galaxy Note 2 owner.

Hey guys.

Current iPhone 5(JB too..) owner.. now will be switching to a Galaxy Note 2. To be quite honest - I was complementing on moving on to a Galaxy Note 2 from the beginning but as an avid iPhone fan(starting from iPhone 3... onwards).. it was just too hard. Got a call from a friend who is selling his 2 months old mint condition Galaxy Note 2 for only $250 so I jumped on that deal. It also comes with a speck case, and all it's accessories.

The size of the Note 2 does not bother me at all so no issue there. What should I expect from the Galaxy Note 2? Cant wait to put it in my hands honestly.. everyone around me is quite shocked that I'm making the jump! lol.

Great phone! I have contemplated of getting the S4 Active but I think I'm going to hold off for a little.

Note 2 is a great device! I have it rooted running CleanROM and I get exceptional performance. On a good day, I get about 48 hours of battery life before I charge.

And prepare yourself because I believe once you make the switch to a bigger screen, you won't go back to the 4" display.

I charged the phone this morning but I usually check my battery status before plugging it in and I had 2 days and 4 hours of use at 13% of battery left.

But let's get this straight, I'm a average user, nothing crazy. As of matter of fact, my new MBA has been the popular device the last couple of days so I haven't been playing with my phone as much.

PS- I have disabled certain "auto starts" to help with battery life--like google maps.

For the sim card, go to a corporate store and they'll give you one for free but it needs to be a corporate store.

I get a steady 16 hours of useable time with my Note 2 during heavy use. I can stretch about two days without charging if I keep my brightness down and turn off radios and services I am not using.

I do however, keep everything on. Including NFC, 4G, WiFi, GPS, Syncing, multiwindow etc.

I typically use my phone for everything, the screen stays on a good portion of the day, I listen to the radio in the morning then keep music playing all day. Take notes with it during meetings, and talk about 3 hours a day during the work day. i don't keep track of talk and text time when I am out of work.

All that to say, I am MORE than happy with the battery life and I abuse my battery to no end.

Right now, I have 57% left on my device, haven't charged it since this morning and have had the screen on for 2h:23m:33s.

Agreed. The top 5 reasons I made the jump as well. It really is a tablet replacement, although, I really find myself wanting a smaller tablet because of it.

I'm the opposite.. I keep all those things off and just switch them on whenever I need to use them.

i use nfc tags to turn on/off different things depending on where i am. When in the car, it turns on my gps and bluetooth and turns off wifi and sets screen and volume to max, when at work it turns off bluetooth, gps, sound, and turns on wifi, vibrate and dims the screen...pretty neat

My friend has one and swears by it. Its also consistently has the highest average rating in user reviews on all four carriers. You really can't go wrong it.

One tweak to make it feel faster. Go into developer options and set transition duration to off and enable force gpu rendering. Leave animator duration on the default setting. The force gpu rendering makes a lot of third party apps scroll much smoother.

Even better is the truly amazing 14+ hours I get from my Galaxy S4, also leaving everything on and display brightness at 50% although that's so bright I could turn it down. Using my phones heavily it's a real sign of progress shown by Android ver 4.2.x

Especially when we consider the spacious displays, it's a true testimony to Samsungs latest refinements in TouchWiz along with its new power manager. Of the many Androids I have, it's the only one I've not rooted since its so nice the way it is. It's the first smartphone that's exceeded my expectations by such a wide margin.

That sounds like something is wrong with your note battery. You should be getting much more than your s4 and a hell of a lot more than 10 hours unless you have a screen time of 6 hours in that span.

Prepare yourself for losing a lot of time on web surfing and watching Youtube vids It's just so much more enjoyable with this screen size.

Oh, and gaming too, if you're into that. Games like The Room are just gorgeous on the Note 2 screen.

I just can't see how the s4 can get more battery life than a note 2 no matter the user. Doesn't the note 2 have a 3100 mAh and the s4 2600?

You have the battery capacities correct.

I own both the phones and must say the performance of the S4's battery is simply stellar. It's got to be the improvements in the highly refined TouchWiz and the energy saver mode. Although it runs in the background and gives no hint of throttling the CPU, there's little else to attribute the significant improvement to.

Side by side with my S3, the brilliant new S4 display is just gorgeous.

This is one very fast, efficient, smooth lag free Android phone.
