I remember someone doing a list like this back when 3.0 came out. Hadn't seen it yet so I thought I'd start it this go around. There are apparently 100 new user features, let's try to list as many as possible. Here we go.

1. change wallpaper
2. Unified inboxes
3. Spell check
4. 5x zoom in camera
5. Tap to focus in video camera
6. Multitasking
7. Folders
8. Zoom text for messages, mail, etc.
9. New dock (not really a user feature but I like it :D )
10. Birthdays in calendar app
11. Rotate camera roll photos
12. Photos organized by albums, faces, events and places
13. Character count for SMS
14. iBooks
15. Control location services for each app
16. Spotlight search will give Safari or Wikipedia as an option
17. Passcode lock can now be a word or numbers
18. Create playlist in iTunes app
19. Game center app (not functioning right now)

That's all that I've come up with so far. What else have you guys found out there?

Don't think I have found anything else not on your list. Is the animation for Icon fade different? i.e when you unlock phone or close an app? They come from all directions (diagonals).

What about changing the SMS alert tones? I'm really sick of having the same sms tone as 40 other people in my office, which is the only non-annoying tone from which to choose.

Ability to multitask (iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G only)
5x digital zoom
Tap to focus video
Bluetooth keyboards
Multitasking VOIP API
App-specific location settings
Game Center Social Network
Ability to categorize Apps into folders (now have up to 2,160 apps instead of 180)
Faces in Photos
Places in Photos
Home screen wallpaper
Gift Apps
Spell Check
SMS character count
iPod Out
Playlist creation
Nested playlists
CardDAV
Advertising via the iAd network
Sync IMAP notes
Birthday calendar
Persistent Wi-Fi
Wake on Wireless
Cell data only setting
CalDAV invitations
Recent Web Searches
Top Hit in Search
Upload workouts to Nike+
Resize photos
Larger fonts in Mail, SMS & alerts
Edit from Outbox
Note syncing with MobileMe
Search SMS/MMS
Nested playlists
iBooks
Unified Inbox
Support for multiple Exchange accounts
File & delete Mail search results
Mail updates
SSL VPN support (both Juniper and Cisco)
Enhanced data protection
Wireless app distribution
Mobile device management
Enterprise support updates

ugh no "wow" things i mean its a big change for iphone users but its all been done with other phone .. nexus one anyone

I have a birthdays calendar on my iPhone on 3.X
Granted, I believe it came from iCal when it automatically created it from my contacts.
This will now be generated automagically on the iPhone?

You do know that posting this is against the TOS of the 4.0 beta, right?

I don't know if they all came from the Keynote, but I recognize a lot of those as being things listed on the slide but not discussed in the presentation. The one I'm most excited about is the Note Syncing. Finally! (And about time.)

Wake on Wireless?

Any thoughts on what Wake on Wireless would be used for?

These are arguments are getting very tiresome. The biggest problem with the Nexus One.. No one wants it because it sucks. Just because you have a feature does not mean anyone wants to use it on a terrible platform. The reason these feature updates are significant is because they are on a mobile used a loved by a large enough use population to make them a compelling place for real application developers to focus their attention.

Besides the fact I could point out at least 10 things (faces and places for 2 easy ones) on the list nexus one does not do, but it is not worth the time, and you will just say those features don't matter.

More like EVO 4G?, OS4 does nothing for me, I wanted sms tones and email tones. Damn apple what is so hard about that.

Does anyone recall the warning when changing a contact's photo is? I read it and no longer recall what it said - something about syncing. Now, whenever I change my photos, they automatically go to the thumbnail size instead of the full screen caller ID.

Agreed. I'm actually surprised at how many similar posts I've seen in the forums. The iPhone 3GS came out 9 months before the Nexus 1 did, so of course the Nexus 1 is gonna have some new features. Products leap frog each other all the time. This summer the iPhone will have a new model with those features as well as some new ones. That's just how technology advances.
