I’m not sure what to think of this but the comfort of the AirPods 4 isn’t what the AirPods 2 were. As much as Apple hyped these to be the most comfortable AirPods they just aren’t that comfortable, my ears start becoming sore after having them in my ears for about an hour, am I the only one or are there others out there with the same experience?

I would really like to dump my AirPods 2’s and leave them behind once and for all but the comfort just isn’t the same. Do i need to get my ears just used to the shape of the 4’s by forcefully using them for a few days?

They’re definitely better than the 3/pro for me but still not as good as the 2. Idk why they just don’t make the non ANC version a tad smaller or something and just have nicer sound inthen same package as the Gen2.

Do you have ANC on while using it? I don't have the AirPods 4, but on my Pros, ANC tends to make my ears sore after a while.

I haven't found this to be case -- sorry to hear this is happening for you, as I know how it was on the AP3s for me (awful!)

I do find the AP2s to be the most comfortable -- by far -- and still use my several sets for the gym, but for now the AP4s w/ ANC have become my daily walk set

But - I am testing extensively while under the initial 15 day window to be "sure"

Here is a photo of the sore that I get from using the airpods 4’s for an extended period of time (several hours)

Oof, that looks painful. Maybe get soft silicone covers for them?

I just popped mine out after 4 hours and no pain or physical injury.

Hope you can figure out a solution that helps you.
