I am starting to again have the long backup times for my 1st gen phone. I though maybe becuase I was doing the updates to apps via the phone. Nope either way I do them I am getting 15-20 backups like I was getting before the latest firmware update. I guess I will try a restore but this seems silly. A couple of things I will ask and speculate on the my issue.

I sync to two PC's one at work one at home. Both are having the issue, the one at work seems a little faster. I assume this is becuase it is a newer machine. Both are windows XP's machines. Could the newer machine just be faster.

Could it be my iphone just needs to be restored, but won't that just mask the problem as a restore starts from fresh and eventually will get gummed up again.

I will be getting a new (my first MAC) Imac after Macworld, do folks with Mac's find less issues with the backups to the iphone?

Honestly I think I will bring in the phone when I get the Imac. I have Applecare for the phone (got it for Xmas last year so still have a year of service) and maybe swap it out as the battery has (to me anyway) been an on going issue. (I reported it a few months back they said see if it changes.

Thought anyone?

Did the restore at work today. Strange thing though it removed all the apps. I have done this before at home and it did not remove all my contacts and info. I mean I synch - email, contacts, calendar at work and everything else at home. So just unusual to me that this time it removed all the apps. I assume when I get home and sync everything will be back, ringtones, music, pictures, video etc. ? Thats a good assumption right?

So went home did the sync. Took forever (not a surprise or big deal) now the phone is back to normal. Came into work and now syncing. Backup starts and zings up to about 70 percent and now holding.... holding....holding......I assume this is becuase of all the new data added last night. Tomorrow will be the test on the sync. Unless something comes out today :)
