why does the date always switch to july 17th...? id like it if the date would stay at the correct one. problem is temporarily fixed by clicking icon in dock.

iCal shows the 17th by default because that's the date it was announced to the world. Maybe if it showed the month too, I would remember when it happened exactly. ;)

There's no way to make it show the correct date when not running although I don't doubt you could probably find some sort of hack that might be able to remedy your problem. Otherwise, if you have enough RAM, just keep it open but hidden. :p

Add iCal into your startup items and click its Hide checkbox. It will update daily without fail ;)
