Okay, so I am really thinking about getting a the new iMac 21.5'' [The most current ones that came out in the past 2ish weeks] But I keep hearing all these very bad things about the iMac. I grew up with iMac's in school and had to have a iBook during Middle School, but I still don't know the 'true' experience of a iMac. [Junior in High school]

As of right now I own a Dell E510... It's slow... But it get's the job done... When it feels like it of course. So my question(s) is/are::

1. At this time, is it really worth getting a iMac 21.5''? I want the 3.2GHz Intel core i3 with 8GB of ram.
2. I have an iPod touch that works with my Dell, can it also work worth my iMac when I get it?
3. Should I order the iMac online or go to our locate store? Which is only a couple of miles away so it isn't a far trip at all.

Thank you in advance! ^^ Hopefully I'll get a iMac soon, I feel as if my 6 year old computer shall play out soon.

There aren't any problems with the 21.5" imacs. Only the 27". The machine you chose would be good.

You can only sync an iPod to one computer. But you can sync it to your mac if you want. You can also get a FREE iPod touch because you are a student. Just ask for the back to school deal if you buy it in store.

If you want it BTO you have to do it through either telesales or online.

Not sure what 'bad things' you are hearing about iMacs but they are seriously great.

1. Now is a great time to buy because the new refresh just happened and that will give you the longest life of 'newest model' possible

2. iPod = Apple. imac = Apple. Of Course your ipod will work with the iMac...it will be even faster and more compatible than with your Dell. iTunes runs much better on a MAC than on a PC.

3. If you want to customize your iMac (extra RAM etc) you have to buy through the on-line store and customize it. I would suggest you head to the Apple store, speak with the reps there and make your decision after that.

Good luck and enjoy your new Mac!

I got my first Mac about 11 years ago - a first gen iMac. It lasted me 7 years and now I've got a Macbook. Never looked back - first class machines. I would just go along to your Apple store and pick one up.

The vast majority of people that I know have gone with Macs have never looked back. If you need to use other OS's then they can always be emulated.

If I was you and I had the cash then I would be heading down there right now. That iMac sounds like a really awesome machine.

Enjoy :D

Right - and in the case of Windows, your new iMac would run that natively just like any other Windows machine - but you would need to purchase a standalone Windows 7 disc to install it on your new iMac.

Furthermore, I wouldn't buy the extra RAM from Apple (nor would most people on this forum I think) since they tend to overcharge. Just go with the base amount of RAM and then buy your extra 4 GB separately from Newegg.com or another reputable online outlet, which tend to sell quality chipsets for significantly cheaper than Apple.

Thanks for the answers guys! Sadly I can not get a iMac soon but around the holiday season. Do you think there shall be another update around that time?
