Hello everybody.

I am having trouble organising my iTunes library, and I would really appreciate your help. My problem is with albums that have various artists.
Let us suppose I have an album/CD of a soundtrack with various artists:

1. Song 1 by Tom
2. Song 2 by Tom
3. Song 3 by Jerry

I also have an album from Tom.

I want to

a. If I select "Artist" I want all songs by Tom to show there, i.e, from the soundtrack and its album
b. Same if I select Jerry
c. If I select "Album", I want all the tracks of the soundtrack there.

I think I have tried all possible combinations (including "compilation album" and sorting fields) , but I have been unsuccessful.
Right now, I either get multiples copies of the soundtrack album (one for each artist) or I do not get listed all the songs of an Artist in the Artist view; the songs in the Soundtrack album do not show up.

I think I am doing something wrong, but I cannot figure it out. Is there a way of doing what I want in iTunes?

I am using iTunes 12.0.1 under OSX 10.8.5

Thanks!

Select all of the songs and go to song info.
Make sure that the album name is the same
Make sure "compilation is checked"
Make sure Artist says "various artists"
Press ok to save.

Next go to songs view, and type the album name into the search field.
Make sure that "artist" and "album artist" columns are present.
Review each song and make sure that the artist is correct.
"album artist" supercedes artist, so that should be empty or same as artist.

That should fix you issue!
