Sound advice.

Hi there, new to the forum!

I've partitioned my macbook pro and installed windows xp pro, I also installed the drivers off of my leopard disc but for some reason there is no sound...

It is claiming there is "no audio device" and I've tried going to the disc and getting it to look for the realtek drivers etc. but still can't get it to work.

I downloaded the realtek hd driver r2.28 and installed that, restarted and it still says no audio device. Sound works fine in OSX.

It's a new macbook pro if that helps!

I've googled and seen others have had this problem in the past but found no solution!

Any ideas?

Update your Bootcamp drivers to 2.1. I believe this might help narrow down to what the exact issue is.

Also, does the OS X partition get sound?

Its a driver issue. Apple put a new soundchip, produced by a noname brand, into the june09 macbook pros, and the driver they developed does not work properly. Check here and here please contact apple support, so the issue gets a higher priority.

Lame...thats pretty shoddy to not have the proper drivers!

How are these people getting any sound at all though? Even some sound would be nice, at present it's saying "no audio device."

install the audiodriver from the bootcamp folder located on the mac osx install dvd 1, that came with your mb ... its called cirrus something... be sure the realtek drivers and software are removed before. run the installation under vista compatibility mode and as an admin ... but that was explained in the threads i posted before ... when someone does the google work for you please be so kind and read it .. thanks

Sorry, was in the middle of reading them and being impatient. Although I did some googling myself and did the whole installing from the dvd and it didn't work. Don't think I went into Cirrus though so will give that a try. Will get onto apple about it as well...

Pretty annoyed tbh for the same reasons as most people, the only bad point about a mac is the fact most games are windows only, then bootcamp comes along and eliminates that, but then they do something like this, completely undermining it. You pay a massive premium to own a mac so I would expect better tbh...
