sound from only one side from speaker jack on PB..

once in awhile i would use earphones with my PB - but it only came out on one side unless i played around with it and got the jack it in the right spot. i never thought it was a problem with my PB, but rather the earphones.

well, recently i plugged it into my new speakers, but only one side was playing sound! i then tried my friends earphones - same result. then my friends speakers - same thing.

does anyone know if there is a way to fix this problem?

Check under System Preferences > Sound > Output and see if the balance slider is in the middle. For some weird reason my ibook has chosen to change the balance every now and again without me doing anything, maybe it's the same for your powerbook.

yep, in the system prefs. happens to my PB too. Weird isnt it?

Very weird, especially since it doesn't happen on my mini. I guess it's just something you get used to, I hardly even notice that I check to change the balance every now and then.

lol. wow, i didn't know this was such a common problem.

i just checked my sys pref, and it was all the way to the left.
