Is there an app that will control the volume of all outgoing volume, no matter what the source, mormalizing it all to the same level?
I just moved to the sticks and can't pick up any NPR signals. So I've taken to streaming from a number of different NPR stations around the West through my computer. I use iCal to program different streams to open and close on schedule, according to my listening tastes. My problem is that I'm constantly switching between iTunes, RealOne, and Windows Media streams. The volume levels vary from app to app and even among different streams in the same app. I might add that sometimes I close the streams and open Sound Studio to let in auxiliary sound from my satellite radio. This, too, comes at a different volume level.
Attempting to normalize the default volume level for each is impossible for a couple reasons: using Apple scripts to control the flow of auxiliary volume through Sound Studio only works with its "Hard Play Through" option, but the volume is much quieter than it tends to be in all my other apps. (Sound Studio's "Soft Play Through" volume is much higher and more in line with the rest of my apps, but it doesn't seem possible to set Soft Play Through to be on by default when the app is open.) Also, as I said, diffferent streams even within the same app have different volume levels. So I need something that controls all of them.
